South Carolina’s deadline to register online or by fax or email for the Nov. 3 statewide general election was Sunday, Oct. 4, the State Election Commission said.
Voters who still need to register by mail must have applications postmarked by Monday, Oct. 5. In-person registration at most county voter registration offices closed at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, officials said.
The commission urged residents already on the rolls to confirm their information is current before Election Day. People who moved from one county to another must register in their new county by the deadline to remain eligible. Name changes and moves within a county should also be updated to avoid problems at the polls.
Online registration is available through the state elections portal. Paper forms can be downloaded from the same site and returned to a county voter registration office by the methods and deadlines above.
The Nov. 3 ballot includes statewide and local contests. County offices handle local questions about precincts, absentee options and polling places.
