CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson voters filled three at-large City Council seats Tuesday, keeping one sitting member and sending a university professor and a former councilman to join her.

Five candidates were on the nonpartisan ballot for the at-large seats on Nov. 3: Scott Allison, Joe Burgett, Nanda Edgerton, Fran McGuire and Alesia Smith.

Smith, already a member of the council, led the field with 2,232 votes in unofficial returns and will serve another term. Burgett, who teaches at Clemson University, was close behind with 2,196.

McGuire, who served on the council before, took the last open seat with 1,975 votes. Allison finished fourth with 1,784 and Edgerton fifth with 1,466.

The tallies remain unofficial until they are certified, which is expected later this week. The races were part of a Pickens County ballot that also decided county council and conservation district seats.
