CLEMSON, S.C. — Dabo Swinney is not shaking up his offensive staff. The Clemson coach said Sunday that Chad Morris will keep calling the offense through the end of the year, one day after the Tigers fell 20-16 to Virginia Tech in Memorial Stadium.

Swinney said none of the offensive assistants will be replaced either, even though he openly blamed coaching for the slow first half against the Hokies, when Clemson managed 94 yards.

The numbers explain the frustration. The Tigers have thrown two touchdown passes all season, the fewest of any of the 138 FBS teams, and none since Sept. 19 against North Carolina. They sit last in the ACC in total offense at 331.1 yards a game and are averaging 21.4 points, a pace not seen at the school since 1998.

Swinney described the trouble as spread across the whole unit, with the line, backs, receivers and freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds taking turns falling out of sync. Reynolds completed 20 of 26 throws against Virginia Tech but gained only 153 yards.

Morris, who ran the Clemson offense from 2011 to 2014, returned in January after Garrett Riley was fired.

Clemson, sitting at 4-3 overall with a 2-2 league mark, travels to Florida State on Oct. 31, its first trip away from home in a month.
