CLEMSON, S.C. — A 13-0 burst late in the third quarter turned a close game into a comfortable one Monday afternoon, and Clemson’s women opened the 2026-27 season with a 68-47 home win over Radford at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Radford held the lead for close to seven minutes across the second and third quarters. Then the run gave the Tigers a 47-35 cushion with a minute left in the third, and the margin grew to 21 points during the fourth quarter. Clemson forced nine turnovers after halftime without giving one away and scored 16 points off those Radford miscues. The teams split the boards at 32 rebounds each.
Newcomers carried the scoring. Junior guard Mackenzie Nelson finished with 16 points in her first game for Clemson, and sophomore guard Taliyah Henderson, making her first career start, had 15 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Holland Harris scored 11, and graduate guard Mia Moore added nine in the 89th start of her career. Kailyn Fields and Angelina Nice scored 12 apiece for Radford.
Eight players debuted for Clemson, and all three freshmen scored their first college points.
The win stretches Clemson’s run of season-opening victories to 13, going back to 2014-15, and moves the program to 39-13 all-time in openers. Coach Shawn Poppie is 5-0 in openers as a head coach, and Clemson is now 9-0 all-time against Radford.
East Tennessee State comes to Littlejohn Coliseum on Thursday, Nov. 5, with tipoff at 7 p.m.
