CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson kicker Nolan Hauser picked up his third ACC Specialist of the Week award of the season Monday, a reward for a perfect afternoon in the Tigers’ 37-0 shutout of Charleston Southern.
Hauser hit all three of his field goal tries and all four extra points on Saturday. The highlight came with 47 seconds left before halftime, when he drilled a 59-yard kick, the longest of his career.
Only one kick in program history has traveled farther, the 61-yard try Spencer Benton made versus Ball State back in 2012. The 59-yard boot is also the longest field goal in the ACC so far this fall and ranks third in the country.
The junior, who played his prep ball at Hough High in Cornelius, N.C., also earned the weekly award after a 5-for-5 field goal night against Georgia Southern and again after the 28-20 comeback win over North Carolina.
No Clemson player has collected the weekly specialist award more often: this is his fifth career pick, one more than David Richardson. Clemson now has six league weekly awards this season.
He has missed just one of 16 field goal attempts this season and has not missed an extra point in 11 tries. Saturday also made him only the ninth Clemson kicker with 50 field goals in a career, and his point total now sits at 258.
Clemson returns to Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 24, for a 7 p.m. homecoming game against Virginia Tech on ESPN.
