No. 23 Clemson women’s soccer fell 2-1 to Florida State on Sunday afternoon at Historic Riggs Field in Clemson, South Carolina. The result was the Tigers’ first home loss of the season and left Clemson at 6-3-3 overall and 2-2-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Florida State moved to 5-1-3 and 1-0-2, earning its first conference win of the year.
The visitors scored twice inside the first 10 minutes. Sam Erbach finished in the seventh minute, and Wrianna Hudson added another in the 10th to make it 2-0. Clemson answered in the 20th minute when sophomore Juju Harris headed home a free kick from sophomore Jolie Jenkins, cutting the deficit to 2-1 before halftime.
Clemson finished with a 10-9 edge in total shots, while Florida State held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-4 edge in corners. Seminoles goalkeeper Kate Ockene preserved the lead with late stops, including a save on Harris in the 85th minute.
Clemson hosts Louisville next on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field for Alumni Day.
