Clemson redshirt junior Christopher Vizzina was named the starting quarterback for Clemson University’s upcoming football season opener against LSU. Vizzina spoke to the media on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, describing the opportunity as a surreal moment.
This marks a significant step for Vizzina, who has spent the past three seasons as a backup to Cade Klubnik. The announcement sets the stage for the highly anticipated game this Saturday, where Vizzina will lead the Tigers on the field at Memorial Stadium, also known as Death Valley.
Clemson University, a prominent institution in Pickens County, is known for its Division I (FBS) ACC football program, which has secured two CFP National Championships in recent years. The selection of Vizzina as the starting quarterback is a key development for the team as they prepare for their first major matchup of the season.
