BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Clemson women’s cross country team ran to a runner-up finish at the ACC Championships on Friday in Blacksburg, scoring 113 points behind only NC State.

The Wolfpack won the team title with 65 points, a 48-point margin over the Tigers, for their ninth league crown in 10 years. The race was run on the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course.

Silvia Jelelgo led Clemson by placing second in the 6K in 18:54.0. Judy Kosgei was fifth and Nancy Cherop sixth, and Cherop was the first true freshman across the line, earning ACC Freshman of the Year honors.

Clemson put four runners on the All-ACC team: Jelelgo, Kosgei, Cherop and Gladys Chepngetich. Only Wake Forest, with five, had more.

The Clemson men finished 15th in the 8K team standings. Both squads turn next to the Southeast Regional on Friday, Nov. 13, at the Milliken Research Center in Spartanburg.
