PENDLETON, S.C. — President Donald Trump is scheduled to headline a midterm rally this evening, Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Clemson University’s T. Ed Garrison Arena and Expo Center on West Queen Street in Pendleton.
Doors at the arena open at 3:30 p.m. The program starts at 5:30 p.m., with the president set to take the stage at 7 p.m.
Tickets cost nothing, but guests need an online RSVP through the Republican National Committee, and each sign-up is limited to four tickets. Plan to bring an ID along with the RSVP confirmation, and expect screening with magnetometers and bag checks at the gates.
Drivers should plan for heavy delays around Pendleton and Clemson. Most drivers will come in on U.S. 76 through Clemson or off Interstate 85 at Exit 19 near Anderson, so leaving early or carpooling is a good idea. Parking is available on site at the arena complex. As of Tuesday, no official road closures had been announced, and organizers had not named overflow lots or rideshare pickup areas.
The arena is a livestock and multipurpose facility whose enclosed main area holds about 3,000 people. Clemson University has said it is not a sponsor of the rally, and the campaign is covering every expense.
The president is coming to boost turnout for Republicans, including U.S. Sen. Darline Graham, who faces Charleston Democrat Annie Andrews in the Nov. 3 general election. Early voting is underway statewide through Oct. 31, and early voting sites keep hours from 8:30 each morning until 6 in the evening.
