CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson’s women’s soccer team closes its home regular season Thursday night against the nation’s top-ranked team, with North Carolina visiting Historic Riggs Field for an 8 p.m. kickoff on ACC Network.
The Tigers come in at 6-3-4 overall and 2-2-2 in league play. The Tar Heels are 11-1-0 and unbeaten in four ACC matches, sitting atop the conference with 12 points.
History favors the visitors. Clemson owns one win, one draw and 37 losses against North Carolina all time.
Carolina has piled up 43 goals, best in the league, while allowing just eight. Bella Devey has 14 of those goals, the most in the ACC, and goalkeeper Peyton Trayer has posted seven shutouts. The Tar Heels most recently knocked off No. 12 Notre Dame for their third win over a ranked team.
Anna Castenfelt paces Clemson with six goals and 34 shots. Taylor Leib has four goals and three assists for a team-best 11 points.
The match doubles as a farewell for a senior group that includes five players from the 2023 College Cup squad: Addy Holgorsen, Erin Sherden, Tatum Short, Jenna Tobia and Dani Davis. The athletic department is billing the night as Soctoberfest, with food trucks outside the stadium and a candy drop for kids at halftime.
