CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson senior quarterback Christopher Vizzina is making progress in his recovery from a left elbow injury, head coach Dabo Swinney said Monday during his weekly radio show.

Swinney pointed to a clear improvement in Vizzina’s throwing motion at practice. Vizzina has shed the larger brace he wore earlier and is now practicing with a sleeve and a smaller pad, and Swinney said Monday was the most comfortable he has looked since getting hurt.

Vizzina was hurt against Georgia Southern in Week 2 after starting Clemson’s first two games, when he completed 14 of 23 passes for 102 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. True freshman Tait Reynolds has started since, with Trent Pearman serving as the primary backup and Vizzina an emergency option against Miami.

Reynolds has thrown one touchdown and three interceptions so far this season, and Clemson has seven games left with no ranked opponents remaining on the schedule.

The Tigers, 3-2, return from their open date Saturday against Charleston Southern at noon at Memorial Stadium on ACC Network.
