Clemson, S.C. — After an open week, national bowl projections remain split on where Clemson might land even as ESPN Football Power Index still points the Tigers toward seven wins.

ESPN FPI projects Clemson right at seven wins and gives the Tigers an 87.7 percent chance to reach bowl eligibility. Clemson is 3-2 overall heading into Saturday noon ACC Network home game against Charleston Southern, a matchup FPI rates at a 99 percent Clemson win probability.

ESPN bowl writers diverge on the destination. Kyle Bonagura has Clemson in the Dec. 28 Military Bowl against Army, while Mark Schlabach projects the Dec. 31 Old El Paso Sun Bowl against Washington. Sports Illustrated also points to the Sun Bowl, but against USC.

On3 predicts a baseball bowl date with UTSA on Dec. 26. Athlon lists the Gator Bowl on Dec. 30 against Florida. Clemson has made a bowl or the College Football Playoff in 21 consecutive seasons, the longest active streak in the ACC and fourth-longest nationally.

A win over Charleston Southern would move Clemson to 4-2 before a closing stretch against Power Four opponents. FPI still ranks Clemson No. 45 nationally with a 6.8 rating after the bye.
