Two Clemson University football players, Peter Woods and Khalil Barnes, have been recognized with Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) weekly honors following their performances in a recent game. This recognition highlights the ongoing strength of the Clemson Tigers football program, a significant point of pride and economic driver for the city of Clemson.
Peter Woods, a defensive tackle, was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week. This marks his second time receiving this honor this season. Woods recorded four tackles, including one tackle for loss, and a pass breakup during the game. His consistent play has been a key factor for the Tigers’ defense.
Khalil Barnes, a safety, earned the title of ACC Defensive Back of the Week. Barnes contributed with five tackles, one tackle for loss, and a pass breakup. This is the first time this season that Barnes has been recognized with this weekly award, underscoring his impact in the secondary.
The Clemson University football program, led by Head Coach Dabo Swinney, consistently draws large crowds to Memorial Stadium, also known as Death Valley, for its seven home games each season. These events bring over 79,000 fans per game, significantly boosting the local economy and supporting businesses along the US-123 commercial corridor.
